Destination: French Polynesia
Little huts on stilts suspended over the ocean, crystal clear water and white sand…. all things that come to mind when I think of French Polynesia. These island oases have so much to offer.
I ended up spending some time in Moorea, Papeete and Bora Bora. It was everything I imagined and more.
It is more of a relaxing vacation spot, but there are a variety of outdoor activities that one can partake.
You can swim with dolphins at luxury resorts:
Snorkel with sharks and stingrays:
And maybe even be fortunate enough to see the underwater wreckage of a Japanese War plane:
I highly suggest stopping by one of the black sand beaches. Some of the beaches are rich in coral deposits, so watch where you step.
French Polynesia is also one of the best places to buy Tahitian Black Pearls. I ended up purchasing a beautiful black pearl ring.
The official language is French, but Reo Tahiti, the indigenous language is also widely spoken.
An underwater camera is a “must” when visiting this destination. Sunglass, flip-flops, sunscreen and an umbrella for short-lived rain showers are also all a must.
It certainly is one of the pricer destinations I have visited, but it really was worth every cent.
What is your dream vacation destination?
