Destination: Napa, CA

This city in the heart of California Wine country, makes for the ultimate girls’ weekend.

Transportation

This is one of the few destinations that I really think requires you to have a rental car or private driver. Having a car to go to the different wineries will make things a lot easier on you, but it is also nice to have a designated driver so everyone in your party can drink freely. There are different companies that will allow you to rent private buses and limos.

Wineries

We visited 2 Wineries the last time I was there. They were Mumm Napa and Sterling Vineyards.

Mumm Napa was perfect for a sparkling wine tasting. We sampled an assortment from dry white to a sweet pink. They even gave our designated driver a sparking non-alcoholic juice cocktail. My favorite was the Brut Reserve Rose.

The second winery was Sterling Vineyards. Guests visiting have an option to ride a Gondola that provides beautiful views of Napa. It even includes a souvenir  wine glass. It is a beautiful spot to take pictures, enjoy good company and to taste delicious wine.

After completing the 2 tastings, we decided we were ready for lunch. We stopped at Long Meadow Ranch and ate at their Farmstead Restaurant. The food was DELICIOUS and the weather was perfect to sit outside. I highly recommend their cheddar biscuits with honey butter.

On our way home, we decided to swing by Dean & Deluca where we purchased gourmet cheeses to pair with our purchased wine. You can sample a wide variety of their fine foods before making a purchase.

It was a perfect weekend for relaxing. Don’t forget “Wine: Because no great story ever started with someone eating a salad.” – Author Unknown.
