Destination: Costa Rica
A friend and I were looking for a fantastic, warm destination to visit when we had a few days off. We ended up in Costa Rica and LOVED it! We spent 3 days there and it was just the right amount of time for what we wanted to see and do. We unfortunately did not have time to visit any of the beaches. Based on pictures I have seen and things I have heard, they are beautiful. Our main focus while there was the outdoors. The food was delicious, the people friendly and hotels inexpensive.
We ended up visiting the Monteverde Cloud Forest, Arenal Volcanoe and Hot Springs, attending a cultural show and going zip lining.
This is one of my top 5 favorite activities I have done in a foreign country. I was terrified at first, but almost became addicted by the end of the day. It was stunning to see the views of the rainforests from higher up. I felt safe at all times and made new friends. I would highly suggest zip lining when there.
Arenal Volcano and Hot Springs
This is where our R&R came in. The hot springs were wonderful to relax in and they were just the perfect temperature.
Monteverde Cloud Forest
If you are a nature lover, this is a must! The forest was filled with beautiful flowers, plants and animals. It’s a beautiful place to visit and enjoy at your own pace. For anyone afraid of heights, I would be cautious with how high some of the bridges are.
San Jose Dinner and Traditional Dance
We enjoyed a festive night of traditional dance and cultural Costa Rican cuisine at a buffet dinner. The views of the city were breathtaking.
If you are looking for a warm destination to visit during the colder times of the year, this is it!
